Schedule Orlando Transportation Before You Arrive

Posted by: Travel Expert Posted Date: 01/07/2014

Orlando Rental CarsOrlando is a large city that seems to go on forever. The areas by Disney, International Drive, and the University of Central Florida are all categorized as Orlando, yet they are miles away from each other. To be sure you have the Orlando transportation you require, you will need to do some advance planning.

Especially if you don’t plan on renting a car, planning ahead of time can ensure you are able to get to where you want to go.

Orlando International Airport Transportation Options

The first step is getting out of the airport. An Orlando airport shuttle may be available from the hotel you are staying at for no extra cost. Many of the hotels near Disney and Universal Studios will provide these as a courtesy for guests. You simply need to tell the hotel that you need to schedule the shuttle when you book your accommodations. You then provide your flight information to them and they will handle the rest.

If you aren’t staying at a place that offers a free shuttle, there are other means of getting to your hotel, resort, or vacation villa. Simply look for airport shuttles online and book one in advance so you have one ready for when you land.

Public Transportation in Orlando

While Orlando is a very large city, it does not have the same level of public transportation that some other large cities do. There is a bus system, but that is it. You will be able to get anywhere you want with the public transportation in Orlando, though it may take you longer than you prefer. It may be easier to explore Orlando cab companies.

If you are staying on International Drive, you can take advantage of the trolley that goes up and down the length of the road. If you are on Disney property, there are also shuttles available to you.

Various Ways to Get Around Town

You may have to be a little creative in terms of how you get around Orlando. It is not the kind of city where you can travel by foot – not even in the slightest. The city is very spread out, so you will want to stay in one area or plan ahead of time how you will get from one end to the other.

Schedule Transportation in Orlando Online

In many instances you will have the ability to schedule transportation online. This allows you to have confirmation of your travel plans before you even get on your plane to come to Orlando. Once you arrive at the airport, you can proceed to baggage claim and then look for someone holding a sign with your name on it. Once you have obtained the transportation out of the airport and to the area where you will be staying, you will be able to enjoy your vacation.

Whether you are staying at a hotel, motel, or resort, you will find transportation to be relatively easy, despite the limited public transportation. As long as you schedule in advance, you shouldn't have any difficulties.

Transportation in Orlando Made Easy

Posted by: Travel Expert Posted Date: 08/15/2011

Will you be visiting Orlando, Florida, soon? If you're like most travelers, you're probably flying into the Orlando International Airport and will have to select some mode of transportation.

When you arrive, the first and most obvious mode of transportation in Orlando is the taxi. You can take a cheap taxi from the airport to your hotel. However, if you will be doing a lot of sightseeing around the city, it's important - and oftentimes more convenient - to have your own vehicle rather than rely on the schedule of a hotel shuttle bus.

Renting a car can be much cheaper than paying a taxi to drive you to and from destinations. It's also easier, because you can come and go as you please, without having to call for or wave down the drivers.

Rentals in Orlando

There are several ways to book rental cars. First, you can go online and choose the rental company of your choice, reserving a vehicle before you hit the city. This is easily done, especially with the speed of today's internet services. Second, you can rent a car at the airport. Third, your hotel may provide a car rental service or endorsement that allows you to rent a car at a lower rate.

Buses and Tours

Another option of transportation in Orlando is buses. Although taking the city bus may not seem like the most ideal mode of traveling at first glance, Orlando buses are quite efficient. For a low price, you can get to the top tourist hot spots in the area. Also, they arrive every five minutes, regardless of rain or shine. Tour shuttles and vans also give you a quick overview of the city, allowing you to stop off at interesting locations before continuing on with your travels.

When it comes to obtaining transportation in Orlando, your options are endless.  Choose the option that best suits your need while in town.

Have a Little Patience When Flying Out of Orlando International Airport

Posted by: Travel Expert Posted Date: 11/09/2010

Departing the Orlando International Airport (OIA) definitely requires a good deal of patience. I’ve noticed with each departure trip lately, the wait in security is getting longer and longer.  I’ve tried flying out at different times of day and even flying different airlines.  The result is the same, a long stand in security.

To be fair, OIA is the 22nd largest airport in the world and the 3rd largest for domestic travel in the United States.  There were over 33 million travelers to pass through OIA in 2009.  Just further proof everyone wants to come to Orlando.

Get to Orlando Airport in Plenty of Time

My last two wait times in OIA security were 46 and 57 minutes respectively.  I’m not sure why they have it set up like they do, but the process really does resemble the herding of cattle.  The important thing is to get to the airport in plenty of time in case you have to spend an inordinate amount of time getting through security.

Even if you have to spend a little extra time getting processed through security, Orlando is a great place to visit and the airport is one of the prettiest I’ve ever seen.  Make all your travel reservations for your next trip to Orlando through OrlandoTravelHotels.com.  You’ll find hotels on sale and when making your flight and hotel reservations at the same time, you can save an average of $525.

Don’t let a little airport wait deter you from heading to Orlando.  Just pack a little patience and get to the airport in plenty of time when ready to head back home.

  • Got Children? Toddler or infant seat rentals mean you don’t have to lug yours on the airplane.

Don’t crowd everyone on the inside of the car with all your accessories.  Add accessories to the outside of the car so you can travel in comfort.  You can find great travel deals, including rental cars and all the needed attachments, at OrlandoTravelHotels.com .
