Orlando Public Transportation

Posted by: Travel Expert Posted Date: 12/20/2011

There are a number of great attractions in the City of Orlando, from the enormous Walt Disney World to Universal Orlando, tourists and locals have plenty of entertainment to choose from. One of the great advantages of local living in Orlando is that there are many forms of efficient public transportation.

I Trolley System in Orlando

One of the most popular options in public transportation is the I-Ride Trolley that provides inexpensive rides to over 200,000 passengers per month during the summer months. The two trolley lines stretches approximately 10 miles, from the Festival Bay Mall at International Drive, in the northernmost section, past the Wet n Wild water park, the Orange County Convention Center and well past Sea World to the Orlando Premium Outlets on Vineland Avenue in the southern end.

Frequent Service on the I Trolley

Not only do tourists take advantage of this popular transit service, but also the locals who work at the over hundreds of locations that is served by the I-Ride Trolley, which includes resort hotels, grocery stores, restaurants, nightlife and others businesses. Because the trolley service runs frequently at approximately three times an hour, the locals can use the trolley service for both work, shopping chores and of course, dining and entertainment.

The Lynx Public Transportation System

The City of Orlando also has very efficient public transportation service known as Lynx that covers all parts of the Greater Orlando area, including the two major tourist destinations of Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando.

Great Transportation System for Tourists and Locals

Because the I-Ride Trolley service is affordable and its prices are comparable to the Lynx system, having the convenient service in one of the largest regions of business and tourism greatly enhances local living in Orlando.  It eases traffic congestion and encourages alternative forms of transportation.

Transportation in Orlando Made Easy

Posted by: Travel Expert Posted Date: 08/15/2011

Will you be visiting Orlando, Florida, soon? If you're like most travelers, you're probably flying into the Orlando International Airport and will have to select some mode of transportation.

When you arrive, the first and most obvious mode of transportation in Orlando is the taxi. You can take a cheap taxi from the airport to your hotel. However, if you will be doing a lot of sightseeing around the city, it's important - and oftentimes more convenient - to have your own vehicle rather than rely on the schedule of a hotel shuttle bus.

Renting a car can be much cheaper than paying a taxi to drive you to and from destinations. It's also easier, because you can come and go as you please, without having to call for or wave down the drivers.

Rentals in Orlando

There are several ways to book rental cars. First, you can go online and choose the rental company of your choice, reserving a vehicle before you hit the city. This is easily done, especially with the speed of today's internet services. Second, you can rent a car at the airport. Third, your hotel may provide a car rental service or endorsement that allows you to rent a car at a lower rate.

Buses and Tours

Another option of transportation in Orlando is buses. Although taking the city bus may not seem like the most ideal mode of traveling at first glance, Orlando buses are quite efficient. For a low price, you can get to the top tourist hot spots in the area. Also, they arrive every five minutes, regardless of rain or shine. Tour shuttles and vans also give you a quick overview of the city, allowing you to stop off at interesting locations before continuing on with your travels.

When it comes to obtaining transportation in Orlando, your options are endless.  Choose the option that best suits your need while in town.

Orlando is a great place to spend a day, a weekend or a week. The Central Florida city attracts millions of visitors each year from Florida, the United States and the entire world.

The Orlando area is probably best known for all of the amusement and theme parks including Disney World, Universal Studios and SeaWorld. There is something for everyone in Orlando.

Disney World

Disney World is the most popular of all Orlando tourist attractions. Kids will love the rides in the Magic Kingdom while adults will probably prefer touring the countries of the world in Epcot Center.

There are many great resort properties ranging from luxury 4 star hotels like the Pelican to family-friendly villas in Old Key West. If you get tired of the theme parks, you can enjoy a round of golf on one of the championship courses or just have fun swimming, biking or playing a friendly game of basketball.

Universal Studios

Orlando travel would not be complete without a visit to Universal Studios. The theme park is enjoying enormous success with its Harry Potter attraction. You can get a behind the scenes look at how movies are made or perhaps visit the set of one of today's most popular TV shows.

Other Things to Do in Orlando

Orlando has plenty of nightlife for those in their 20s and 30s and the city also has plenty of water parks where the kids can splash and have fun. Miniature golf is a popular family past time and the whole family can have fun visiting Ripley's Believe it or Not Museum.

Survey Says, Orlando #1 Spring Break Destination for 2011

Posted by: Travel Expert Posted Date: 03/17/2011

First, Orlando surpassed Las Vegas as the top tourist destination and now Orlando has dethroned Vegas in another category, Most Popular Spring Break Travel Destination for 2011.  These results are according to an Orbitz survey.

Last year, Orlando ranked #5 so it looks like it wasn’t just Las Vegas that was surpassed.  Perhaps Orlando came out tops in this survey because it is a family-friendly location.  Not all Spring break travelers are college kids looking for the next beach keg party. In fact, the survey indicates 88% of the respondents try to avoid popular Spring break locations for the college-age group.

The fact is, four Florida locations ended up in the top ten of this list.  Of course, Miami/Fort Lauderdale made it, but Fort Myers and Tampa also are hot destinations this Spring break.

If Orlando Doesn’t Have It, It’s Close By

Orlando pretty much has it all.  You can find the world’s greatest theme parks, sporting venues, recreational opportunities, and oh yeah, you are within easy driving distance to beaches not just the Atlantic Ocean, but the Gulf of Mexico too.  Pick your beautiful poison on this one.

Many cruise lines call Port Canaveral home and you can fly into Orlando International Airport and catch a shuttle over to set sail for an exotic location.  Check out the newest ship in Disney’s fleet, the Disney Dream.  I hear it really is a dream of a ship.

For sports enthusiasts, the Orlando area is home for spring training to many Major League Baseball teams.  The Atlanta Braves, Houston Astros, and New York Yankees are just a few of the teams you can see play while you are in town.

It’s no wonder that Orlando came out on top in this survey.  There are just so many different things to do and enjoy. Regardless of age, you can have a great time in Orlando -  not just in the Spring, but any time of the year.
